No bird is left except for two eggs that hatch into a peacock and a swan. As far as appropriateness is concerned, I feel it may be all in how the book is used. This book presents the concept of war in very simple terms and is well written and beautifully illustrated. The first few lines I read from this book were about how blood rained down the sky, and it struck me as oddly and particularly violent. Illustrator Nicholas Wiltons paintings bring out the beauty of the worlds of the peacock and swan. Even then, I thought the writing just tried too hard to be poetic, and missed the mark -- it felt trite. There is bad blood between peacocks and swans but eventually they became friends and live peacefully together. However, we might get pleasure from in case you have any kind of information about it, and are also ready to provide the item.

Then one day one of the peacocks believed the swans were threatening them and there was a bloody fight that left no birds alive. Author Mem Fox makes a point to name the most aggressive peacock "the first-and-most-foolish" and demonstrates in elegant prose how the follies of human nature -- such as prejudice, gossip, and aggression -- can lead to the despair of having to live in fear and, ultimately, face the ravages of war. There is bad blood between peacocks and swans but eventually they became friends and live peacefully together. A modern fable about some peacocks and swans who allow the fear of their differences to become so great that they end up destroying each other. When the swans saw this they responded by making their own arrows. The peacocks began to fear the strength of the swans and began sharpening feathers to use as arrows to defend themselves.

Your opinion may vary. About this title Long ago and far away, in a rambling garden beside a clear blue lake, two flocks of birds began to fear each other because of their differences. When all seems lost, hope arises, in this profound, well-crafted, and stunningly illustrated modern-day fable worthy of comparison to Aesop's tales.

The swans then gather their own weapons. The moral of the story is simple in that it is represented in the final scene of the book where the two birds look at their similarities instead of their differences to live in peace.

This then leads to the fear that the swans may one day change the peacock's way of life. Your opinion may vary. Demands of Prior Knowledge Prior knowledge of fables is assumed, therefore teachers may want to introduce the story elements of fables prior to reading the text.
